AFFORDABLE WIRELESS PLANS

We're down to our final 2 days here in New York.

On Monday we're packing up the car and hitting the road. Our Triptik from AAA arrived last week so I started mapping out the course for our cross country road trip and booking the hotels. This is going to be more affordable than I expected. The average motel/hotel (with the AAA discount) costs about 35-50$ a night and they all have FREE WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE. So I'll be able to update daily from the road. I really love the idea of being able to take all my friends on FLICKR with me on this trip via the internet.

We're going to be driving for 42 hours and is an estimated 3,780 miles from our front door in New York to John's front door in San Francisco. The biggest cost will be the gas, around 300$.(at least!!)

This is our trip plan so far - We're taking the Lincoln Highway (I-80) all the way across the country.

Day 1 - Driving to Ohio. Motel booked.

Day 2 - Illinois. Motel booked.

Day 3 - Nebraska. Motel Booked

Day 4 - Wyoming. Motel Booked

Day 5 - Reno, Nevada. STILL LOOKING FOR A MOTEL -- Any suggestions?

Day 6 - San Francisco


We have to pack all the essentials into one big box, squeeze our computer into the backseat as well. The top of the car will have all of our clothing, the trunk will be filled with spare tires, oil, water, car supplies..etc.

I can't express how excited I am about this road trip, it's something I've always dreamed about doing and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm just praying that our car makes it. Like I said before...It's 10 years old and has over 190,000 miles on it.. but it runs great. I have my fingers crossed. We're limiting our driving to about 8 hours each day and pacing ourselves..

I keep thinking that there's something I'm forgetting, I've never taken a road trip like this before. I have this overwhelming feeling of constant anticipation and excitment, mixed with a touch of nervousness. There is so much to do and so much to wrap up before Monday.

Only one more day, I don't know how we'll manage to do all of it. I better get back to packing... instead of updating my flickr page, you think? I just really needed a break, I'm exhausted... I want to just fall over backwards and pass out.

Alright.... back to filling and duct-taping up the boxes.

During the Games
The vibrant Athletes' Village will be located in the Olympic Park, within walking distance of the venues – enhancing the experience of athletes and officials. During the Games, the Athletes' Village will comprise residential apartments for around 17,000 athletes and officials, along with shops, restaurants, medical, media and leisure facilities and large areas of open space.

The Village will also include a 'Village Plaza’ where athletes can meet with friends and family. The plan retains London's tradition of building homes around communal squares and courtyards, with water features accentuating the closeness of the River Lea. Athletes will have an inspirational view over the Park. Every apartment will provide comfortable accommodation and state-of-the-art communications facilities, including internet access and wireless networking. All the apartment blocks will be fully accessible and equipped with modern lifts.

Athletes will have easy access to the travel and leisure facilities of the adjacent Stratford City complex, and the High Speed 1 Javelin® shuttle service will link the Village to central London in just seven minutes. During the Games, the Village will include ‘back of house’ operations, and services for athletes such as catering and transport. The majority of these will be accommodated in temporary structures on sites that can be cleared for development immediately after the Games.

After the Games
After the Games, the Athletes' Village will be a lasting legacy of essential new housing for east London. It will be transformed into 2,800 new homes, including 1,379 affordable homes.
The communities that develop in the area after the Games will be supported by new parks, open space, transport links, and community facilities including Chobham Academy – a world-class new education campus with 1,800 places for students aged 3-19.
